Gold (G) values are the prices at which shops sell the items. This does not mean that all items can be bought at shops, just that if you were to sell them, that’s how much you’d pay to get them back.
Medical Herb
10G
Purpose: | Restores 10HP to the character holding it, or one adjacent to the holder |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | All item shops, some battles (all skeletons in South Parmecia carry it), searchables |
At the beginning of the game, ensure all characters have a good supply of this – even healers. Once HPs start reaching the mid 20’s to 30’s, change over to Healing Seed. |
Healing Seed
200G
Purpose: | Restores 20HP to the character holding it, or one adjacent to the holder |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | Most items shops, some battles, searchables |
Just because this is more potent than Medical Herb it does not mean you need to carry less! Neither is it a good idea to buy this at the start of the game just because you can afford it – if your characters don’t have over 20HP it’s better to use Medical Herb. Keep using this until you get around 40-50HP. |
Healing Drop
300G
Purpose: | Restores 30HP to the character holding it, or one adjacent to the holder |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | Later item shops, some battles, searchables |
This is the stuff you should be using for most of the game. The only thing better is healing water or healing rain, of which there are only few. |
Purpose: | Restores full HP to the character holding it, or one adjacent to the holder |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | The Taros Shrine, Ketto, The Dwarven Town, Galam Treasury |
Since these are so useful, but there are not very many of them, save them up for emergencies only. Don’t just keep them for the last few battles though, or you might never get around to using them. |
Purpose: | Restores full HP to all characters on the fighting Force |
Use on: | Everyone on the Force! |
Location: | Chest at Creed’s Mansion, Blue Shaman in Fairy Woods, the Final Battle |
There are only a few of these around, and so make sure that you’ve got one for the battle against King Galam, and one for Zeon. |
Antidote
20G
Purpose: | Cures the character holding it (or one adjacent to the holder) of poison |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | All item shops, some battles, searchables |
Although a lot of people don’t bother carrying this, I’d always ensure that at least 2 of my Force are have some – just in case. Often I find that certain members get poisoned more often than others – these are who I’d give it to. |
Fairy Powder
100G
Purpose: | Cures the character holding it (or one adjacent to the holder) of poison, sleep etc. |
Use on: | Anyone on the fighting Force |
Location: | Most item shops, some battles, searchables |
Not an item I use very much at all – it takes up valuable space and is a waste of money as far as I’m concerned. |
Purpose: | Restores 20MP to the character holding it, or one adjacent to the holder |
Use on: | Magic Users on the fighting Force |
Location: | Deals, battles 25/38/40, searchables |
Quite a handy item, but fairly rare, so it’s a good idea to save it for in emergencies. |
Purpose: | Restores full MP to all characters on the fighting Force |
Use on: | Everyone on the Force! |
Location: | The Japanese Version only. It’s in a chest in the Fairy Woods bonus stage, however, the chest is actually invisible (playing with the layers in GeneCyst will not help you find it!).See the screenshot for where you need to stand to find it (the red cross), since it’s under the trees. Stand facing down, and search. About the screenshot: Since it’s in Japanese, here’s a picture showing Bowie once he got the Right of Hope. I’ve put an insert on the screenshot of the location, so you can see that the text besides the Right of Hope icon matches the text displayed when the chest is opened. |
After many years, I’ve finally had the time to track this one down. Unfortunately, since you can only search in battle in the Japanese version, you can’t get this item in the USA and UK versions. |
