Since the Genesis (Mega Drive) and it’s games have been out of production for many years now, there is little chance of there being a Shining Force 3 released for the Genesis. Shining Force 3 was released for the Sega Saturn in 1997, but only one of it’s three parts was translated into English, due to the Saturn’s premature demise. Since then, no further Shining Force games have been released (with the exception of Shining Force 1 being released in the “Smash Pack 2” for PC, and “Smash Pack” for Dreamcast). Sega’s position at present is that “they have no current or future plans” for a new Shining Force game, however with 13 games in the series, I feel confident that it’s not over yet 🙂 With Sega developing games for all platforms now, and Camelot (the company that developed Shining the Holy Ark and Shining Force 3) developing primarily for Nintendo, it seems possible that the next Shining game will appear on a Nintendo console.
